Pride in Your Classroom

Your can enrich your Maryland with Pride experience in three ways:

Schedule a School Tour of Pride of Baltimore II. She'll be available in Spring 2000 from April 14 through June 7 in eight Chesapeake Bay ports to welcome students aboard for a FREE one-hour, hands-on tour. Applicants will be chosen by lottery for these limited tour slots. Click on School Tours to put your class' name in the hat to be selected for a tour.

Jeremiah Jenkins Book a presentation by Jeremiah Jenkins, the Singing Sailor for your class. Jeremiah will be available in Spring 2000 in February, March, and April. Jeremiah portrays a sailor just home from the War of 1812 where he served aboard the daring privateer Chasseur. In 1814, Chasseur was nicknamed "the Pride of Baltimore" for her bold exploits in blockading the entire British Isles all by herself! Jeremiah will come to your class in full costume with pictures and artifacts from the period. He'll make history come alive as he tells stories and teaches sea shanties. Click on Jeremiah Jenkins to book a presentation.

Reserve the Pride II Seaman's Share Chest for use at your school for two weeks. The Share Chest contains dozens of artifacts from the ship - mast hoops, deck prisms, different kinds of wood, a ship-in-a-bottle, flags, and much more - as well as booklets, audio cassettes, and videos. A comprehensive Teacher's Guide comes with the Chest. Click on Share Chest to find out what's involved and how to reserve the Chest for your school.
