Exploring Economies

To begin this learning adventure, you are going to play a short game with a partner. We call this game "How many jobs can you name?"

You can use your Exploring Economies Worksheet to keep track of your and your partner's score. This is how to play:

  1. One partner keeps time for one minute. The other partner says as many jobs as s/he can think of. The partner listing jobs should keep track of how many s/he can think of by placing a tally mark in the "Partner 1 score" blank on your worksheet every time s/he says a job.

  2. Now let Partner 1 keep time, while Partner 2 thinks of jobs. Don't repeat any jobs.

  3. At the end of the game, count the total number. This is you and your partner's score.

How many jobs did you and your partner think of? How many jobs did your classmates think of?

What do you think makes all those jobs that you thought of different?

Peoples' jobs are different because they produce different goods or services. They produce goods or services that meet other peoples' wants or needs.
