Where is Sugar Loaf Mountain?

Images from the American Memory Collection of the Library of Congress.

Let's start our investigation by finding where Lieutenant Miner was stationed when he spotted the invading troops.

To the left is a large map of the Middle Atlantic states published in 1861. As you can see, age has yellowed the map and there are small rips in the paper. Because this is a large map (38 by 26 inches), the line in the middle is where the map folded into two parts.

If you were going to use this map to find Sugar Loaf Mountain, where would you begin?
