Wetlands and Their Inhabitants

Introduction

As the crew aboard Pride II travels around Chesapeake Bay, think about all of the different kinds of places that they will see. Of course they will see towns and cities full of buildings and homes where lots of people live. But what kinds of animal homes do you think that they'll see? Perhaps they will pass farms where cows and horses graze in fields. They may also pass forests along the way that house songbirds, foxes, and deer. While sailing in or around Chesapeake Bay, they will almost certainly pass another kind of home - one that is much more important to Bay wildlife than you might imagine! Have you ever heard of wetlands? Wetlands are areas that provide homes and resting spots for dozens of birds, animals, and plants.
