Writing Your Site Report

To complete the final part of this Exploration, you will write a Site Report. You will also draw conclusions about what you think was happening on this site. To do this, you will need:

Now that you have studied the natural environment, some of the artifacts, and some of the features from the Stearns and Patterson sites, you are ready to write a short Site Report that summarizes what you found, and what you know about the people who once lived there. Use the Site Report Form to help you record the important information. You might need to review information that you learned from the beginning of this Exploration that you recorded on your other Worksheets.

Remember, archaeologists study the artifacts and other evidence from the site for what it tells them about the people or culture. Like archaeologists, you may draw your own conclusions. Just remember to back up your conclusions with evidence from the site.

When you are finished writing your Site Report, your teacher will ask you to read your report to the class. You may want to illustrate your report with images of Native American life. Your teacher may have some drawings by a famous artist, Theodore De Bry, that you can use to show to the class to illustrate your Site Report.
