John Paul Jones was the
privateer and Blackbeard was the pirate.
Jones is considered by many to be a great hero of the United States
Navy because of his naval successes during the Revolutionary War. In
fact, Jones' body was moved from its resting place in France to a
crypt of honor in the basement of the chapel at the United States
Naval Academy in Annapolis. Blackbeard is remembered for his criminal
exploits. Are you surprised by these answers? Why or why not? For
