Part 2 - Let Your Fingers Do the Walking . . .
We are about to begin our "field trip." You will need to do one thing before we go. Ask your teacher for a copy of the "My House - Your House" Venn diagram:
Click on the image for a full page view Remember that a Venn diagram is a graphic organizer that has two areas that intersect or overlap. You're probably used to using circles that overlap to make a Venn diagram. This particular Venn diagram is made up of two overlapping houses instead of overlapping circles. As you travel through this lesson you will need to jot down some notes. Things that you notice about Asian homes that are similar to American homes should be recorded where the two houses intersect (overlap). Things that you notice about Asian homes that are different from American homes should be recorded in the house labeled "Asian houses." You will need to complete the "American houses," too. Things that you notice that are different about American houses should go in the "American houses" part of the diagram. Don't forget to include things about your own home, too. For this part of the lesson you may work with a partner, or alone. Check with your teacher if you are not sure how to begin. If your teacher thinks that you have time to take two days to do this lesson, you may want to sketch some of the houses that you will see. Or you may just want to sketch a favorite house or two. If your time is very limited, you might just be focusing on just comparing your home to a Chinese home (Part 3, Part 4 and Part 5), or a Korean home (Part 6), or a Japanese home (Part 7). Then you will only visit the World Wide Web sites for that country in Asia. You may always return to the beginning by clicking the "Start" button at the bottom of a page.
