Leaving everything in our wake the brig Chasseur stood out to sea with pleasant breezes from SSE. Land afterwards from SW and had for the first day a good run of 208.

The wind today from SSW & South have been gradually decreasing so that towards the conclusion it was light indeed our distance less than yesterdays say 159 but the weather fine and the hands all employed about different duties.

It has been nearly calm these twenty 4 [hours] and the light breezes which have been at intervals fanned us have been so variable as scarcity to bear my particular denomination by expanding every sail to the best advantage we have made from them 92 but as towards the better part the SW wind again sprung up we may hope for better tomorrow.

The weather has been delightful since we took our departure and tho the wind has been feckle as to direction today it's strength has given us a run of 200 tho it has been from SW to SW= NNW NE & ENE.
