BRIG CHASSEUR FROM CANTON TO BALTIMORE

On Saturday 30 December 1815, all the cargo having been received on board, papers obtained from Mr. Wilcox Ame[rican] Consul, the Capt[ain] and I having bid adieu to Mr. Amidon and our other acquaintances in Canton proceeded with our baggage to Whampoa where we join the Brig a little after candlelight.

In the morning the anchors were weighed and we proceeded down the river with a fine fair breeze, but the Pilot's boat being small he was unwilling to take us to sea that night as we anchored ___________ at the mouth of the Boroa Tygres. At day break we were under way and having reached Maccao at 12 O'clock we discharged the Pilot and stood out by the Grand Ladrone at two o'clock on Monday New years Day we took our departure from the Ladrone so this Journal commences by Sea Account.
